How Would You Like Dignitaries to Visit Your Place?

If you could have a "one to one" visit with one of your heroes of the Past or Present, who would it be?
Who is the greatest dignitary that you can imagine sitting down to talk to?
Is it President Bush?
Or Hillary Clinton?
Is it a singer or a movie star?
Is it someone who is still living?
Or since we are just wishing, is it someone from the past?
Marilyn Monroe?
Bob Dylan?
Winston Chuchill?
Iron Lady Thatcher?

WhenI was about eleven, one of the Beatles claimed that they were now more popular than Jesus Christ! Maybe you wish that one of them would come to your house 4 the afternoon.
Just once!
Did you know that only one person out of that list has ever offerred to come to your house for more than a visit?

That person is Jesus Christ.
Jesus said:
Soon, the world will no longer see me, but you will see me.
Since I live, you also will live.
When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in the Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me.
And because they love me, my Father will love them.
And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.
One disciple asked, Lord, how are you going to reveal yourself only to us, and not to the world at large?
He replied, All who love me will do what I say.
My father will love them, and we will come amd make our home with each of them.

Jesus really is worth getting to know.
You will find him walking through the pages of the Bible.
The Father God, the Lord Jesus, and the Mighty Holy Spirit, are looking for a chance to move in with those who are interested in their company, I mean, their friendship.

How do you get their attention?
Start reading the Bible and trying to practice what Jesus told you that you must do.
Each time you are going to try, ask Jesus for his help.
Tell him that you are aware that his commands (like "love those that hate you" )are impossible unless he helps you. Then, ask him to help you.
He and the Father will come to you, right where you are and help you and if you want them to, they will move in with you, and things start looking up from that time on.
If Jesus tells you to get rid of something, some habit or sin, he will more than make it up to you in better things to replace what you gave up.
When you begin to feel his presence at home, at work, in your car, or in your cell, Oh, Man! you have just started living!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Well, I was going to comment on your Blog, but it requires a password, and I don't know how to set that up on your website. You'll have to let me know.

In reference to reading God's word to get to know him - last week Savannah had a situation with a couple of friends that has really gotten out of hand. I probably should have gotten involved, but I was trying to let her handle it just between the friends because once one parent gets involved...you know what happens.

Anyway, without giving away the details of her personal struggle - one of the other parents came to me with a note that Savannah had written to her daughter who had unwittingly gotten involved in the skirmish, by taking up for Savannah. "Have you seen this?" she asked. And I began reading a 4-page note (where do they find the time?) that went something like this.

"U are my BF." (I'm not going to keep doing that, I don't even understand it myself) "You are AWSOME to tell "so and so" off for me. But really what you and I both need to do is to pray for them, because they really can't help themselves. They have faced a lot of rejection through their lives and only God can reveal himself to them through his Holy Spirit. The only thing you and I are doing when we try to tell them the truth is making them mad."

"You should read James 1:2-12." (Then she wrote those 10 verses, which took up one note-book page) "Have you ever read James? I read almost the whole book the other day. Anyway, this is like a trial for us, just like in James - but God is teaching us something - I don't know what, but he is and he is teaching them something, too. We just have to PRAY HARD. We can trust him to make us more like him, BECAUSE of this argument but we just have to wait it out. HE WILL COME THROUGH FOR US and when the trial is over WE WILL GET A CROWN! BE SURE YOU READ JAMES."

Sometimes I wonder if they're hearing anything I'm trying to teach them. Mostly, I'm concerned that they make the connection between what they are experiencing in their lives and what they are reading in God's word. (I bite my tongue every time I want to ask them IF they're reading God's word, at all!) A little trust, please!
